This conversation will be moderated by Cal State LA's Department of Television, Film, and Media Studies Chair, Dr. Kristiina Hackel.

Shawntavia has been working in the publicity space for over 5 years, working on behalf of clients such as Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount and Disneyland, among others. Shawntavia got her start as an intern working for a music publicist where her love of PR sparked after she covered the 57th Grammy Awards representing now Grammy winner Jo-El Sonnier. She then moved on to represent top-tier clientele at Anderson Group Public Relations ranging from actors, artists, reality stars and influencers where she pitched national television, print, and online outlets for coverage in support of their projects. She currently serves as the director of the African-American division overseeing efforts for prominent studio clients to generate awareness through publicity and promotions for targeted African-American campaigns. Shawntavia holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from California State University, Fullerton.
Francisco Sanchez is a communications and entertainment industry professional who has worked as a publicist, multicultural consultant, and impact producer for nearly a decade, supporting the success of award-winning documentaries, TV series, film festivals, and nonprofit organizations within the arts and culture sector. His past consulting, impact, and publicity work include working alongside Cinemax, Hulu, National Geographic, Searchlight Pictures, Focus Features, LAIKA, and Lionsgate.
